Hi Friends!

My name is Kacy and I am the owner & photographer behind Kacy Lawver Photography.

I have always loved taking photos from a young age, often stealing my parents digital camera at the zoo. Once I reached the age of 15, I used my birthday money to buy my first camera. And the rest is history.

I have now been in the photography industry professionally for 6 years, with a concentration on equine and western lifestyle photography. While having a horse in front of my camera is my bread and butter, I also photograph seniors, engagements, couples, and weddings. And I am always down to photograph something new!

The Equestrian Heart

My parents say my first word was "horse," and honestly, not much has changed since. I started riding at age seven and have spent my life immersed in the equestrian world. I have spent most my time riding and showing Morgan horses, but also have rode hunter/jumpers and western sport horses. I have two horses currently, Ace and Dude.

Ace is now retired from the show ring. He was my show partner for 10 years, carrying us to several victory passes in a few different disciplines. He is my whole heart and he has my endless love. I have recently had the opportunity to start working with Dude, another gorgeous Morgan horse. I will be showing him starting in 2027, thanks to my amazing parents. He is very much still in training, but is teaching me so much along the way. And he is exactly 10 years younger than Ace, so it almost feels like starting over again!

In the horse world, details matter. Because I am a rider first, I understand the work that goes into a polished coat, the patience required for a young horse, and the split-second timing needed to capture that perfect "ears-forward" moment. My equine and equestrian work has been featured in National Horseman, Morgan Horse, and Saddle Horse Report magazines. In 2024, I was a part of the Official Photographer team for Midwest Horse Fair. In 2025, I started my Official Horse Show Photographer career with a couple small shows and have since grown into being the Official Photographer at several shows for the 2026 season, with my 2027 season tentatively filling up.

The Wedding & Lifestyle Vision

As I plan my own future with my husband, Jordan, I’ve realized that photography is about more than just a single day. It’s about the "forever" that follows. My approach to weddings and lifestyle sessions is rooted in love and care.

I’m for the lovers who want to wander into a field at golden hour, the people who value a physical heirloom over a digital file, and the couples who aren't afraid to get a little dirt on their boots to get the shot. I bring a calm, steady hand to the high-energy of a wedding day, ensuring every moment is captured with the same heart I put into my own life. I bring the fun and care-free part of my soul to all my portrait sessions to ensure that we not only create beautiful images, but also make fun memories.

Beyond the Camera

When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me spending time doing the other things I love and spending time with my favorite people. Our family consists of two horses, a dog, and a cat, along with my husband Jordan and myself. My days off are spent at the barn, hanging out at home, or being out with friends. My favorite activities include horseback riding (if it wasn’t already obvious), traveling, shopping, and reading. I spend a lot of time with my husband and friends on the weekends I am not photographing a horse show or wedding. My goal in life has always been to live it to the fullest, while making amazing memories along the way.

I fell in love with photography over a decade ago because I wanted to hold onto the moments that move us. Today, I’m honored to do that for you.
